We found an incredible family this past week, and we had 13 investigators at church! That is a record for me and my companion, and it was awesome! We have two baptisms coming up this next Saturday, with 3 more with dates set! I'm super excited! But the family we found. We contacted the father, and he told us he had "bastante" faith in Jesus Christ, but we could come back the next day and teach him and his family, at the time we normally eat dinner. We often have to do things during dinner, and so we just have the other elders bring it to the apartment. So the next day rolled around, and we finished the appointment before it a half hour early, so we decided to see if he was there, to be able to eat at least a little before going back to the apartment. So we showed up a half hour early, and he wasn't there. We decided to contact for the half hour, and then return, and if he wasn't there, we would go eat. So we were contacting, and it was our last contact before we were going to go check, and the phone started ringing from a number I didn't recognize, so I silenced it and finished the contact. It started ringing again, from the same number, and I answered it. It was our appointment, and he was worried he had missed us because we had come early! We assured him that we could still visit him, and went to his house. We went in, and he immediately told us to sit down, and grabbed two chairs, one for his wife and one for him, and introduced us, and was ready to listen! We found out that they are married, and are very dedicated to the marriage and their family, even though they are different people. They are looking for ways to protect their children from the influences of the world, and we shared The Family: A Proclamation to the World with them. We invited them to be baptized, and they accepted, after we assured them that previous baptisms wouldn't disqualify them! Also, he doesn't drink, and she rarely drinks, and only a little! It is absolutely amazing! We are super excited to teach them!
I also found a scripture in my personal study today that exactly describes my situation! It is in Alma 29:9-10:
9 I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.
10 And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy; then do I remember what the Lord has done for me, yea, even that he hath heard my prayer; yea, then do I remember his merciful arm which he extended towards me.
This is the Lord's work! I am so happy! This is awesome!
